Juroku Musashi was a board game which was popular during the Edo period (1603 - 1868). It was played on a board with 16 pieces. Kunisada incorporates a view from the top of the board into the design, forming part of the background of each print in this series. In the foreground a woman adjusts her ornate hair ornaments. The circular cartouche contains a luxurious kimono hanging on a stand.
