The courtesan Nakazume of the Shimanouchi District - the unofficial pleasure quarters of Osaka - is observed in a private moment crouched over on all fours, looking at her reflection in a mirror placed on the futon beneath her. She is surrounded by disarranged bedding including a duvet and an overturned pillow; two sake cups sit on a tray hint perhaps at a client who has just departed.
