Figures caught by a sudden heavy downpour of rain scatter in all directions; some struggle to open parasols against the strong wind. A little light from the glow of a streetlamp barely illuminates the scene. This print is reminiscent of Utagawa Hiroshige's iconic print issued some seventy years earlier 'Sudden Shower over Shin-Ohashi Bridge and Atake' (Ohashi Atake no yudachi).
