During the summer festival of Obon the folk dance Bon-odori is traditionally performed. In this lively depiction the Bon-odori performers are silhouetted against the moon, casting long shadows on the ground as they dance. They circulate around the yagura decorated with colourful illuminated lanterns, held by a male performer at the centre.
